ALBERT EINSTEIN ECCE HOMO! AND HIS 7 CAPITAL PRESENTS:
ByAlexander Grosman
No doubt, the most cosmic example of a human being; the Earth recalls on this the one hundredth anniversary of 'annus mirabilis', that Einstein is a mirabilis, a unique phenomena in the history of humanity. I, being the founder of COSMICART, will face this extraordinary spirit with one of his most human virtues, but one no less cosmic than others: Humor.
Once a wise man was asked, "Who were the six Jews, the history makers?"
He replied, "In the beginning there was Moses, Jesus, Marx, Freud, Einstein and then, one Unknown."
Moses said: everything is in our head, consciousness… and the man gave us the Commandments.
With Jesus: everything is somewhat lower, in your heart.
Love! Love! Love! And, the New Testament was born.
Then Marx: everything is lower still; in your belly:
Your food and everyday needs. And behold, "Das Kapital.'
Freud insisted: No! No! No! Everything is lower; everything is Sex! Sex! Sex! Analysis has not stopped since.
When Einstein materializes: Relax brothers. Everything is relative…
Then the Unknown: You are all right, but not entirely.
Everything is cosmic, everything is art, therefore:
COSMICART.
Now in a manner, both serious and humble, I salute and thank this most graceful man for his contribution to the saving and protection of our planet.
Einstein's theories provided the groundwork for the construction of the atomic bomb. How ironic that the very weapon of capable of winning the war for the Nazis was lost to them through Hitler's xenophobia. How lucky for us that a more diplomatic approach, the cultivation of Jewish scientists and open invitations to all foreigners to take part in their nuclear research was not an option because of their Hate. Imagine if Einstein had not felt imperiled and not left Germany; the genius sequestered, forced to help the Nazis produce the atomic bomb and further the nightmare vision of the Third Reich…
Two gifts in one: the first a series of conceptual revelations to humankind: an intellectual super-highway. The second: the start of his struggle against the misuse of this knowledge and a lifelong campaign against the proliferation of nuclear weaponry and the total annihilation that such misuse could bring.
Einstein's reflex to leave Germany is a gift to humanity in itself and the conclusion that the hating of others maybe mortal to the one filled with hate is the second of Einstein's gifts.
His compassion towards people distinguishes Einstein from other genius minds. He is to be admired as much for his hopes and fears for humanity as for the conceptual genius that is his fame. Nevertheless, his ideas on Relativity provide a theoretical structure for a speculation on the nature of Truth. This is the third gift.
"Imagination is more important than knowledge."
Words that bring us to the fourth of his gifts: through his theories and his teaching he shows us the human brain's capacity to imagine far outreaches the boundaries of what it can know. He invites us to dream of, and realize our potential within the Cosmos by fully using our brains.
"Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything learned at school."
From the cosmic to the microcosmic, but of no less import: the fifth of his seven gifts - his practical thoughts on education. He enlightens us to the nature of what is good in study both conventional and unconventional. Moreover, he teaches that learning should be fun.
I recall the words of my professor spoken to me as a child living on a Kibbutz, "Intelligence is like a garden, left uncultivated it remains fruitless land." And I say, "Sure there are people with big brains all over our planet, but do they use them?"
A lazy brain is just like any other organ: the less one uses it the worse it will perform. Einstein's merit lies not just in being big -brained but being smart enough to have the will to use it. Therefore from this, we take the sixth of his gifts: by example he shows us what can be achieved through the power of will.
One day in Germany, a young Einstein in the search for pocket change found instead a Rabbi. Embarrassed to ask for money rather he told the Rabbi of his metaphysical torments: Life-Time-Space, etc. And asked of the Rabbi,
"What is a 'moment' in a lifetime? The Rabbi considered the question and replied, "Son, a 'moment' is an eternity."
After consideration of this perspective the young Einstein returned to the Rabbi and this time being more direct asked,
"Please Rabbi, could you, for a moment, lend me one hundred marks?"
The Rabbi, reflecting replied' "Wait a moment!"
...And the research on relativity began.
Oh Alberto!
For me you matter, and to me, if there be anything since the time of man worthy of cloning It is YOU!
The Seven Capital Gifts:
1. The Salvation and Defense of the World.
2. The Proof that ones hatred may kill oneself.
3. Relativity.
4. The Potential of the Brain.
5. Study should be Fun.
6. The Power of Will.
7. His Imagination and Sense of Humor.
The scale of his wisdom and generosity are astronomic. I could write endlessly, or I could summarize the universal legacy of Einstein in three words: GO BEYOND YOURSELF!
